Did you know that you can buy skateboards for your feathered friends online? Here are some examples from Zazzle:

If you type in "budgerigar skateboad", you'll find a few more of these. You can personalize most of them (change the color of the ceres or feathers). The skateboards are about 15-20 cm long, perfect size for a budgie! :)

Week of Skateboarding Budgies: Day Four

Today, I talked to a girl at the gym who happens to be from Australia. I told her that I have two pet budgies. Oh yes, she does know what budgies are. "Nasty little buggers!" She said (luckily half joking). "They can be very annoying at 5:00 am, like most Australian birds."
 I was just amazed at the thought. I occasionaly hear blackbirds in the morning, but that's about it. To be woken up by a swarm of 1.000 budgerigars who are ready to start the day? Wow. :D

New pictures of Frodo and Isla

In the first picture, Frodo and Isla have been with us for nearly two weeks. You can tell that they're getting comfortable. In the last picture, which was taken this morning, they are confident enough to fly to my hand. They're amazing little birds!
I've decided to take a break after this post, mainly because things are getting busier at work, and I also need a bit of time to polish up my blog. If all goes well, I should be done by December 1st. Take good care of your birds and see you soon!

Wordle Cloud of Budgies are Awesome

As a translator, I have come across Wordle before. Now the latest post on my fiancé's blog reminded me of how useful this tool can be. You can create a stylish word cloud from any text page, preferably one with 1000+ words. It will put the emphasis on the most important words, to give you an idea of what the text is all about.

I tried it out on my blog, and it looks like this: (can you guess what the most important word is? ;)

I found a funny little click and point game, where you play as a blue budgie who is tired of sitting in a cage. Use your escaping skills to help this clever bird escape!

I got kind of stuck in the nesting box :p so you can try to beat me!
